I have no self-control…but, you knew that, right?
September 10, 2007 by Meg
So, you may recall, I got exactly an hour of sleep Saturday night. Insomnia couldn’t strike when I was out of work for six weeks. Noooooo, it had to be now, when I start a new contract TODAY. This is how I spent my night.
From about 11 p.m. Saturday night until 5 a.m. Sunday morning I was reading the archives of Violent Acres. *facepalm* I can’t believe it. Then, of course, I had to follow all the linkies she drops in her posts and that got me going on The Girl Who… blog and on and on and on. (I’m currently running through Vodkarella’s blog.)
Since I started this little journey through blogs and blogrolls, I’ve learned many things.
- There is this cabal called Mommybloggers. Didn’t know that did you?
- This cabal is out to take over the webs and make us sympathize with mommies everywhere and their plight to be understood and appreciated.
- That there is a faction of this cabal, however, that has no patience with such lofty goals.
Seriously, guys. This shit is WEIRD. I had no idea mommy blogging was so political And I can already tell that it is a damn good thing I’m not a mother (of two-legged creatures), because I WOULD NOT FIT IN! For one thing, I found myself nodding and may have even cried out “hell yeah!” a couple of times while reading Violent Acres. And VA doesn’t seem to be popular AT ALL with mommybloggers. *snerk* I can’t imagine why. She also rants about fat chicks, child abuse (as in not making your children mind you in public. Can I hear an Amen?), and the general stupidity of humanity.
I’m seriously, y’all. These chicks are fucking mean! It was like I was hypnotized by their vitriol and could not get up from my chair. Because truth be told, I really could have gone to bed around 3ish Sunday morning, but I just HAD to find out how VA got away from her evil mother! It was worse than a soap opera!
And what am I listening to in the background right now? Wolfie doing an MST3000 commentary on the Scotland/Portugal World Cup rugby game. My life, it is so exciting.

There’s a rich culture of mommyblogging out there. Sink your teeth into the infertility bloggers sometime. Their readers tend to turn on them when they successfully conceive. I don’t read any of that shit but I did used to read Trainwrecks and they had all the good stuff on display.
Heh. Trainwrecks. That’s very appropriate. I’ve read fiction that was truly a trainwreck and you just feel DIRTY when you’re done.
